INSPIRATION

“ALIVE!” is the word with which the world received the news of the survival of 16 youngsters who were about 20 years old, after 72 days of a shocking experience: the crash of an Uruguayan plane in the Andes, at an altitude of 4000 meters, with temperatures of 30º below zero, without warm clothes or medications, suffering from hunger and thirst, constantly facing terrible situations and decisions.

This term represents a remarkable story experienced by ordinary people, a moving event, full of hope that continues to motivate and inspire thousands of people more than three decades later.

The Alive Foundation is based on the values conveyed through the story of the Andes:

  • Love, filial and fraternal, unrestricted and unlimited love.

  • Courage, as an impetuous decision and a spiritual effort, a synonym of valour.

  • Dedication, committing to other people, selflessly.

  • Hope, trusting that it is possible to achieve a social change, that a solution will be found; it is also related to the religious faith of most of the group.

  • Perseverance, constantly trying to achieve a goal and working for a gradual approach to this goal.

The “Alive” legacy sums up the essence of the human spirit that can overcome extreme hardship, symbolizing values, feelings and a positive attitude.-
